It is no coincidence that Leora’s Garden, situated  near the Keshet Eilon student dormitories, is located in Eilon. It signifies both her deep love for music and her love of flowers.

Leora Heiman was a special woman, a flower in her life and in her death.

A mother to five children and 17 grandchildren, a superb psychologist, and a world traveler. She traveled to Bhutan and Myanmar, to Bali and Egypt; she loved her trips in Israel with Machon Avshalom, and was the first to drive to see the blooming of the anemones in the Negev and the irises on Mount Tabor. Leora was a devout opera lover, a lover of liturgical, and of course, of classical music.

She subscribed to both the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and the Israeli Opera. She never missed the masterclasses at “Sadnat ha-Opera”, and was passionate about Keshet Eilon.

Mostly, though, Leora was a giving and caring human being. A best friend, an incredible sister, and a Savta to envy. What a great Savta, who never missed a birthday of her grandchildren anywhere around the world, all of whom, of course, had to play an instrument. Her own kids argued over who would get to spend more time with her. She would have loved the Garden, would have been proud of her family, and would have probably, in modesty, said: “You shouldn’t have.”
