Evgeny Bushkov (Russia)
Dr. Evgeny Bushkov was born in Moscow to a family of violinists. At the age of five he began studying violin. During his studies at the Central Music School of the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory and later at the same Conservatory his teachers were: Zinaida Guilels, Leonid Kogan, Viktor Tretiakov, his mother Zoria Shikhmurzajeva and Alexander Vinnitsky.
A laureate of four major international violin competitions: The Wieniawski in Poznan (1986, 1st prize), The Queen Elisabeth in Brussels (1989, 3d prize), The Tchaikovsky in Moscow (1990, 2d prize) and the first Henryk Szeryng Foundation Award in Monte-Carlo (1992), Dr. Bushkov led an extensive solo career in Europe, North and South America. In 1999, due to a health reason, Dr. Bushkov stopped playing and dedicated himself to conducting and violin pedagogy.
The same year Dr. Bushkov joined the String Department faculty at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory. In 2019 he became String Department Chair at the Moscow Central Music school.
