Anthony Yang: 18-year-old Canadian violinist Anthony Yang began playing the violin at age five, studying with Karl Rainer, before continuing his studies in the Cleveland Institute of Music’s Young Artist Program with Malcolm Lowe. He is currently pursuing his Bachelor’s degree at the Juilliard School in the classes of Hyo Kang, Joel Smirnoff, and Donald Weilerstein under the Juilliard Scholarship and the H. & E. Kivekas Scholarship.
In recent years, Anthony has participated and performed at festivals globally, at the Meadowmount School of Music, Orford Musique, Encore, Keshet Eilon International Mastercourse, and the Kronberg Academy Masterclasses, receiving instruction from Cho Liang Lin, Boris Kuschnir, William van der Sloot, Robin Wilson, and Ilya Kaler.
Anthony’s recent solo appearances include engagements with the Firelands Symphony and
Carl Topilow and the Euclid Symphony Orchestra as winner of the Tom Baker Young Artists Competition. An eager chamber musician, Anthony has performed in concert at The Juilliard School during its 25th season of Chamberfest, CIM, the Scotia Festival of Music (Olive Babineau Scolarship), and the Cleveland Museum of Art, and has worked with members of the Juilliard, Cleveland, Cavani, and Orion quartets.
A recipient of the British Columbia Arts Council Scholarship, Anthony performs on a Ca. 1720 Carlo Annibale Tononi, on generous loan from CANIMEX Inc. of Drummondville, QC.
