Arayana Carr-Mal holds a Bachelor of Music from the Cleveland Institute of Music, where she studied with Jessica Lee and Phil Setzer, and a Master of Music from the New England Conservatory, where she studied with Soovin Kim. Her earlier training included studies with Soovin Kim and Robyn Bollinger during high school.
Arayana currently holds a first violin section position with the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra, a role she has maintained across the 2024–2025 and 2025–2026 seasons. She has served as concertmaster of the CIM Orchestra and as assistant concertmaster during the 2022–2023 season. As an orchestral fellow, she has participated in the Pacific Music Festival, the Spoleto Festival Orchestra USA (where she served as concertmaster), the Colorado College Summer Music Festival, the Aspen Music Festival (where she served as assistant concertmaster), and the Bowdoin International Music Festival.
She has performed under conductors including Andris Nelsons and Marek Janowski, and has participated in masterclasses with Lawrence Lesser and Kim Kashkashian.
