Charles Sunie (14,Canada) began piano at five before taking up the cello at ten. In four years, he has emerged as a concerto soloist in Canada and abroad. He performed the Dvorak Concerto with the Master Orchestra in Brescia, Italy, won the Philadelphia International Music Festival Concerto Competition, leading to a concert performance with members of the Philadelphia Orchestra, and won the Frank Simpson Concerto Competition, earning a solo appearance with the Calgary Youth Orchestra, where he serves as Principal Cellist. He is the youngest cellist in the Advanced Performance Program at the Mount Royal University Conservatory. His artistic formation has been shaped through advanced study and mentorship at leading summer academies. He is also a prize-winning composer, with published violin works and a premiered string quartet, Two Colors.
