Chunxi Xu completed both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at the Central Conservatory of Music under the tutelage of Chen Xi, winner of the 12th Tchaikovsky Violin Competition. She studied string quartet with Professor Franke GF Yang, first violin of the Alexander Quartet, and since 2023 has received private instruction from Professor Qian Zhou.
Her competition achievements include first prize in the 2018 Hummingbird Young Music Award for String Quartet and first prize at the 25th United States International Music Competition, along with the Temporary Award. She was selected for the Vietnam World Violin Competition (2019) and Kachaturian Competition (2023), and earned first prize at the China and Korea Music Festival (2021).
As first violin of the Duke String Quartet, Chunxi achieved international recognition when the ensemble was selected as one of only 12 string quartets worldwide for the Bartók World String Quartet Competition in 2021.
Her career demonstrates excellence in both solo performance and chamber music, with particular distinction in string quartet performance at the highest international levels.
