Isabell Karlsson
Isabell, born in 2005, began playing the violin at the age of 5. In September 2023, she began her undergraduate studies with Professor Schnarch as a Gandar Dowar Scholar. She made her solo recital debut when she was 17 in the Elgar Room at the Royal Albert Hall, and has performed solo in halls such as Wigmore Hall. In 2022, she was a semifinalist in the Kloster Schöntal International Violin Competition in Germany.
Isabell was the concertmaster of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain in 2023 and led the orchestra’s BBC Prom in the Royal Albert Hall. She has participated in mastercourses including New Virtuosi International Mastercourse; YoMA, Bowdoin International Music Festival, and Keshet Eilon International String Mastercourse.
Isabell plays a Maggini-de Salo violin circa 1600, kindly loaned by the family of David Angel.
