Mira Hu, born in Honolulu, Hawaii in 2003, began studying the cello at age seven. She attended the Hawaii Youth Symphony program and currently studies with Amit Peled at the Peabody Conservatory. She performed the Schumann Cello Concerto with the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra in Honolulu at age 17, and the Kabalevsky Cello Concerto with the Kamuela Philharmonic at age 16. Prizes she has won include First Prize in the Hawaii Symphony Concerto Competition (2020), Hawaii Music Teachers Association (2019, 2020), Morning Music Club (2019), and Great Composers Competitions for Shostakovich and Kabalevsky (2019). She also won Second Prize at the Osaka International Competition (2017) and performed at Carnegie Hall after winning Second Prize in the American Protégé International Competition (2019). She has participated in Orford and Domaine Forget.
