Rachel Cheung, born in Hong Kong in 2008, began studying the violin at age 3.
Rachel Cheung, born in Hong Kong in 2008, began her violin studies at the age of three and has since developed into an accomplished young violinist. She received her foundational training at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts under the guidance of Mr. Yat Wah Cheng and Albert Cheng, as well as at Yip’s Children’s Choral and Performing Arts Centre under Ms. Kwok Yan Lo. Currently, she studies with Prof. Ani Schnarch at the prestigious Royal College of Music Junior Department in London. Rachel has distinguished herself as a soloist, performing with the Roedean School Orchestra at Brighton Dome at age 13 and presenting a solo recital at the Chapel Royal Brighton at age 16.
Her competitive achievements include winning the Concerto Competition at the Brighton Springboard Festival in 2022, placing third in the Violin Concerto category and second in Grade 8 Violin at the Hong Kong School Music Festival in 2017 and 2019 respectively, and reaching the finals of both the Peter Morrison Concerto Competition and the Gordon Turner Competition at RCMJD in 2024 and 2025.
